Brick Club: Small-Group LEGO®-Based Therapy in Schools
Service Description
Supporting and developing the emotional health and wellbeing of children is paramount to their learning and overall development. Brick Club offers a structured, evidence-based intervention that helps children build the skills they need to thrive socially and emotionally. In small groups, children take part in LEGO-based therapy that promotes: * Communication and listening skills * Resilience and problem-solving * Empathy and understanding of others Collaboration and teamwork This intervention is particularly suited for children who may find the main classroom environment overwhelming and benefit from practicing coping strategies in a low-anxiety, play-based setting. How Brick Club Works Sessions run weekly for 6 weeks, lasting 1 hour each. Children rotate through three structured roles every 15 minutes, ensuring equal opportunity to practice communication and regulation skills. The repeated structure helps embed social understanding, teamwork, and confidence. A pre-assessment with the teacher ensures group aims are tailored to the needs of the children. At the end of the programme, teachers receive individualised feedback reports outlining each child’s experiences, observed progress, and transferable skills. Children from different classes or age groups can participate together, making Brick Club a flexible, inclusive option for schools seeking targeted wellbeing interventions. Impact for Schools Brick Club supports schools in meeting wellbeing priorities by: Providing evidence-based, small-group intervention aligned with SHANARRI wellbeing indicators (Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible, Included). Equipping pupils with coping strategies that improve classroom readiness and reduce barriers to learning. Offering measurable outcomes through feedback to teaching staff, strengthening targeted support plans.
