Why Choose LEGO® Therapy for Your Child?

Children learn best through play — it’s how they make sense of the world, practise new skills, and build confidence.
LEGO® Therapy harnesses the natural appeal of LEGO® to create a safe, structured, and enjoyable way for children to:
-
Develop social skills – taking turns, sharing ideas, listening, and working together as part of a team.
-
Build emotional resilience – recognising and managing their feelings in a supportive, non-judgemental space.
-
Strengthen communication – practising clear expression, problem-solving, and understanding different perspectives.
-
Grow confidence – feeling proud of their contributions and capable of overcoming challenges.
-
Unlike traditional “lessons,” LEGO® Therapy feels fun and engaging, which means children are motivated to participate. By rehearsing and repeating these skills through play, children can transfer what they learn into real-life situations at home, at school, and in the wider world.

For many families, LEGO® Therapy is not just about building models — it’s about building confidence, resilience, and relationships that last well beyond Brick Club.

What happens at Brick Club
During Brick Club with Emma, children take part in team-based activities and work together in small teams to build a LEGO® model, taking turns to play different roles (called the Engineer, Supplier and Builder) until the model is built.

Building together involves joint decision-making, communication, social interaction, motor skills, creativity, imagination, problem-solving and much more!

Over time, children develop a sense of community and belonging through their shared interest in playing with LEGO® bricks
Origins of LEGO® Based Therapy
LEGO® Brick Based Therapy, developed by neuropsychologist Dr. LeGoff in the mid-1990s (LeGoff et al., 2014), was originally created for autistic children. However, it has since been found to be beneficial for all children.

Additionally, LEGO® Brick Based Therapy has proven effective for individuals dealing with anxiety, social confidence and creates a realistic environment to use and try out conversational skills. It is especially valuable as an intervention for children with speech, language, and communication needs.

There is always something to practice, someone to engage with and - importantly - your child will be amongst like-minded peers who also love LEGO!

How can Brick Club help?
LEGO® Brick Therapy helps children develop essential skills such as communication, emotional expression, social interaction, behaviour modification, and problem-solving.

The LEGO® bricks system is a highly organized, systematic, and predictable toy, which makes it particularly appealing to children.
Unlike other types of free play that involve unpredictable and ever-changing elements, LEGO® play provides a structured environment. This structure helps children feel calm, regulated, and fully engaged.

Children feel secure when there are routine elements to their day. LEGO® based therapy is a subtle way to encourage play, problem-resolution, planning and friendship skills. As the roles are rotated between the members of the group, children can discover how they can make improvements or implement their previous experiences into better outcomes.

Facilitating their processes supports their own self-realisation towards their capabilities. I am able to support them capture their individual strengths and group achievements into skills that can be used in many other aspects of their school and home life.
